Witham, a Hotshot firefighter from Mentone, California, was killed in a tree-felling accident while working the Lolo Peak fire on August 2. It was the second death on Montana wildfires this season.

Beebe's assistant superintendent of the Lolo Hotshot, Shawn Faiella, recalled how impressed he was with Beebe when interviewing him for the job.

Brent M. Witham, of Mentone, Calif., was killed in a tree-felling accident Wednesday on the Lolo Peak fire, according to the Missoula County Sheriff's Office. Witham was a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and a member of the Vista Grande HotShots, based on the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California.

I set a fairly firm date with Tim for the 50th on April 30th, 2011. I've got some calling to do next week, but we'll be trying to shoot for Marshall Mountain, and have a couple ideas for back-ups if needed.
